Funding

Hawaii's charter schools receive inequitable funding and no guarantee of annual support. Charter schools are funded on average $5,750 per pupil, compared to the $16,520 that conventional district public schools receive.

ACHIEVEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Test Scores

While there is no renewal process or accountability plan addressed in the law, Aloha State students perform at levels equal to or above the proficiency objective indicated by the state in both reading and math, according to measures on the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards, administered in grades three, five, eight, and ten.

Closures

As of February, 2009, no Hawaii charters have been closed.
