In the 2006-07 school year, 72 percent of Michigan's charter schools made federal targets (AYP), compared with 69 percent of conventional schools in the same host districts. |

Closures |
As of February 2009, 27 Michigan charters have been closed. More than one-third suffered financial difficulties due to low enrollment. Another third were closed for operational deficiencies and the remainder for academic failure. |
