ACHIEVEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Test Scores

Utah charters demonstrate remarkable achievement and an ability to integrate students of diverse backgrounds in the classroom.

In language arts, math and science, charter school students achieved equal or higher levels of proficiency compared to their peers at conventional schools. Ninety-five percent of charter schools made AYP, in comparison with 80 percent of conventional public schools.

Closures

Charter school closures are evidence of accountability in action. As of February 2009, only one Utah charter has been closed, as a result of management deficiencies.
